BTW dremils are great on hard steel, and for small thin cuts. an angle grinder with a thin disc will cut pretty well but will the sparks start a fire? It can also catch and want to take the tool right out of your hands if not careful. even the dremil disks can go flying when they shatter , and they make sparks as well. Our new cordless metal saw offers the speed and portability contractors need when making difficult cuts on the job site.

When working in dim work spaces the DCS373L2 includes a bright LED light with a 20-second delay. Since making precise cuts in metal an be tricky because of hard to see sigh lines; this saw includes DeWalt's proprietary Multi-Coated SIGHT-LINE window that provides maximum abrasion resistance for a clear view of the cut. A high strength steel shoe ensures durability and also offers resistance against chip build-up and there is a lightweight magnesium upper guard. We like that other creature comforts such as rubber over molded grip handles and easy to adjust depth and bevel leavers are standard.

The circular saw was invented around the end of the 18th century as a rip-saw to convert logs into lumber in sawmills and various claims have been made as to who invented the circular saw. Before the design was invented logs were sawn by hand using a pit saw or using powered saws in a sawmill using an up-and-down saw with a reciprocating motion. The rotary nature of the circular saw requires more power to operate but cuts faster because the teeth are in constant motion. The sound of the circular saw is different from the sound of an up-and-down saw and earned it the nickname buzz-saw.

A circular saw is a tool for cutting many materials such as wood, masonry, plastic, or metal and may be hand-held or mounted to a machine. In woodworking the term "circular saw" refers specifically to the hand-held type and the table saw and chop saw are other common forms of circular saws. "Skil saw" has become a generic trademark for conventional hand-held circular saws. Circular saw blades are specially designed for each particular material they are intended to cut and in cutting wood are specifically designed for making rip-cuts, cross-cuts, or a combination of both. Circular saws are commonly powered by electricity, but may be powered by a gasoline engine or a hydraulic motor which allows it to be fastened to heavy equipment, eliminating the need for a separate energy source.[1] The rotary motion of a circular saw lends itself to cutting hard materials like concrete, asphalt, metal, tile, brick, and stone with an abrasive saws like a tile saw. Diamond blades and cut off wheels are commonly used in these applications. The use of a large circular saw in a saw mill is said to have been invented in 1813 by Tabitha Babbitt, a Shaker inventor, after she noted the inefficiency of the traditional saw pits used by the sawyers in her community and sought an improvement.[6] This claim is now mostly discredited.[7][8]

They make a circular type saw for cutting steel and of course they make jig saw blades for cutting steel. As previous posters stated if a little more info was available I could be more specific. If using a jig saw I would go slow and if possible use a variable speed on lowest speed possible. I have never cut steel with either so I am telling you how I would start. Personally I would find a machine shop that had a CNC plasma cutter. You would be surprised how reasonable they are price wise. Good luck. It is made by Kawasaki and is one tough machine. This one comes with a side handle which gives you more control and allows you to exercise a great deal more power. If you were a contractor out on a site doing a lot of metal cutting, then the extra investment on this one would be a good consideration. These costs in the price range of $140-150.
