There are stories of people trying to cut treated wood or even regular plywood and this unit running into trouble. It's an idiosyncratic device as well, as the blade is on the left of the unit. This is the opposite of most circular saws and power tools. Why they did this, we don't even know. It's not listed as a feature or a detriment in most reviews or in any of the official literature on the tool. Sadly due to the battery power and some of the quirks, it's not for everyone. Though hopefully if you're using this machine for light duty, and you like the quirks, it could be a good pick for you. This is a specialized device. It may be a great fit for you, or it may not be the best fit. Let's go through a bit more detail, and you can figure out if this is good for your needs or not! The item you are currently viewing is the Dewalt DCS391N 18v XR li-ion circular saw, naked - bare unit. Keyless bevel angle. Complete with rip fence and blade. Ergonomic handle set. Warranty Information. I've had the old fashioned 3.6V and 7.2V tools and it was great to have a 20V tool. The drill is very good. The light is a single light and I would recommend that they have a dual light like other cordless drills. With one light, sometimes you end up blocking some of the light when you're working. But I have used this drill but put in a floor in my attic space and it worked great. The battery lasted a very long time and I have a lot of power. No complaints whatsoever

The item you are currently viewing is the Dewalt DCS391N 18v XR li-ion circular saw, naked - bare unit. Keyless bevel angle. Complete with rip fence and blade. Ergonomic handle set. Warranty Information. This thing is so handy for me wonder why I never bought one sooner. The only thing I have found is that is going to take a while for me to get used to having the saw blade on the left side instead of the right. I'm used to a 7 1/4 circular saw. My first project with it I was cutting 1" x 8" x 12' planks into 6 inch lengths. It cut perfectly. I also cut some 2" x 6" lumber and I found minor fault. Don't stop in the middle of the board and restart it. The saw would hum and I had to start the cut over. Then it worked perfect. I cut a lot of lumber over 2 days time with this saw but I charged the battery overnight. I can't say how well the battery holds up because of that. I did make a lot of cuts that day and never ran out of power. I cut overhead with it to cut out some bad floor rafters and it was very light to work with. I take into consideration this was a brand new blade on it and I did not hit any nails etc. A very good buy in my opinion.

I am not a contractor. I don't work with my tools 50-60 hours per week. However, I do a lot of handyman work, and do use my tools often. I needed the cordless saw and was happy to have a back-up drill as well. I bought from Amazon's "Used" stock, and it has been perfect. Still working. I could have paid more for new or for a higher rated name brand, but for my purposes, this has been perfect and it has worked flawlessly. The saw does not seem as powerful as others I have used, but again, for the few times I need to slice through a roof board or other small task, it works. Smaller ones will work also but not as well. This goes for most compact circular saws. This thing is so handy for me wonder why I never bought one sooner. Installing the blade is difficult because it just doesn't just slide in you need to force it in a bit without being injured from the blades. There is a good short video on YouTube that shows someone installing the blade. The bolt has directions for tightening "stamp on it" which is in the opposite direction you normally tighten an loosen most nuts. Note this is the opposite direction in which the saw blade rotates. Circular saws are typically used for cutting or ripping various materials such as wood and metal. A huge range of saw blades are also available. Toolstop has a great range of quality professional and DIY circular saws from the top manufacturers such as Dewalt, Metabo, Makita, Bosch and Hitachi. Black and Decker is one of the older American tool companies. They acquired DeWalt in the 1960s and in 2010 acquired Stanley to form a rather large group of tool makers. They're headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin and sell tools all over the world. They've won awards in industrial design and have been a mainstay of American tool making since 1910. B&D, as a brand, is their midrange line second only to DeWalt. Their reputation is pretty good, and this saw has a 2-year limited warranty. Battery pack instead of AC Power. Yep, this is one of those things that's in both the positive and negative columns. The bad part about a battery pack is it means the engine/axle/saw blade is powered by 20 volts instead of 120 volts of power. There are sadly stories online of people "taking knives to gunfights" here, and using this tool to try and cut treated wood or dense woods like oak. Just don't do it, it's not what this type of device was made for. You need to match the arrows of the blade in the same direction which is marked on the chain saw guard. You may need to turn over the blade which puts the label inside,or hidden because it will be the only way which will match the circular saw blade direction. This is the second one I have own. This one I have had for less than 30 days. I will be taking it back and refunding it. Tonight when I was just cutting a simple 2x4 untreated board it just stopped several times. Then after I finished and went to cut another 2x4 it wouldn't run. Then I got it to run but it was making a clunking sound. After looking into it there are three teeth on the big gear ring that have been busted off. The main teeth gear don't go all the way onto the big gear ring. The drive gear teeth rod should be longer so there is full contact between gears and not half contact. "Blade on the left" design annoys some people. Again, depending on who you are this can be good or bad. But if you've used conventional Skilsaw-style designs for years, this "backwards" machine may interrupt and or slow down your workflow. It's just one of those things you're just going to have to try to figure out if you like it or not. Some people are lefties and love it. Some people use the standard style saws and these interchangeably, and have no problem with the design of these. Other people just see a picture of this thing and decide they don't like it. It's kind of up to you, and it's not really something that can be quantified with a review.
